Acupuncture, Fertility and ART
(assisted reproductive therapy)

For thousands of years, acupuncture has been used to enhance fertility and it is growing in use today. Because of its ability to influence blood flow, relaxation, and general health, it is an ideal way to encourage conception regardless of the method. We often work with patients who are undergoing western fertility treatment as well as those who are attempting to conceive on their own. Some of the benefits of using acupuncture alone or in conjunction with ART:

• reduces stress
• strengthens the immune system
• improves egg quality
• improves the quality and thickness of the uterine lining
• helps regulate side effects from hormone use for IVF/IUI
• improves sperm mobility, morphology
• decreases the chance of miscarriage

Ideally, we recommend that individuals get started with acupuncture and lifestyle changes 2-3 months before beginning an ART cycle. This gives the ovaries and uterus time to achieve optimum health. If that isn't possible, we will work within your time frame to achieve the best possible results.
